Igor V. Rubtsov, Assistant Professor
Ph.D., 1992, Institute of Chemical Physics, Russian Academy of Science
Office: Room 504 Israel Building
Telephone: (504) 862-8943
Email: irubtsov@tulane.edu

Discipline:
Physical Chemistry, Biophysics, Multidimensional IR Spectroscopy

Research Interest:
We are developing novel methods for measuring 3D structures of molecules in solution at physiological temperatures.  We are also interested in applying these new structural methods and target the mechanisms of protein and enzyme biological functioning.  Three-dimensional structure arrangement and dynamics of structural fluctuations play key roles in enzymes functioning.  Nonlinear femtosecond spectroscopy methods, such as two-dimensional IR spectroscopy, permits measuring quick snapshots of the structural distribution of molecules in solution.
